Safety harness, size L; vest, yellow on right side, white on left side; with yellow straps sewn at waist and criss-crossed on back and extending over shoulders to front; 2 metal loops for attaching to lifeline; 2 smaller metal loops on front of chest straps; left front rivet broken at waist; Velcro tape at waist; maker's label on right chest illegible. Worn by William Pinkney during his 1990-1992 solo sailing voyage around the world aboard his Valiant 47 sloop COMMITMENT, the first African American solo circumnavigation.
