5x7 glass plate negative photographed by Rosenfeld and Sons, ca. 1917 of what looks to be a Hood Otho gasoline car. View of a well-dressed woman seated posed in an automobile with very squared-off fenders, a light in front of the driver on the hood of the car, what may be a gas tank directly behind the woman's seat and 2 extra tires attached to the rear of the auto. The hood ornament has two wing-like pieces that would be useful in getting the radiator cap off more easily. The entire car is open to the elements, no roof or doors and the steering wheel seems to come up out of the floor at a 90 degree angle. Reference consulted: STANDARD CATALOG OF AMERICAN CARS 1805-1942, by Beverly Rae Kimes and Henry Austin Clark, Jr., 2nd edition, 1989, page 684, "(Ralph Otho) Hood built another car he called the Otho which he began in 1908 and completed in 1910. This car's special feature was an electrical flywheel starter, which Ralph Hood later claimed was the first practical electric starter. Only the one Otho was built."
