Matted gelatin print of starboard view of the menhaden steamer ANNIE L. WILCOX in Mystic, CT. Photograph believed to have been taken around 1898 or in the following years after the ship was enlarged. The ANNIE L. WILCOX was built by Mason Crary Hill of Mystic in 1878 and was the first menhaden steamer in Mystic. Steamer was part of the Wilcox Co. Fleet of steamer ships which caught and supplied menhaden fish for Wilcox Fertilizer products. Photograph by Mystic area photographer George E. Tingley. Photographer’s mark stamped in lower middle of matt board, reads “Tingley / Mystic, Conn.” Photograph in overall good condition, some yellowing across the matt board and photograph edges. Small water damage mark along the lower right edge. Overall: 12 x 13 7/8 in., framed; 7 ½ x 9 ½ in. sight.
