Tobacco card, Lighthouse series by American Tobacco Co. for Hassan Cigarettes (T77); Matinicus Rock Light, number 30 in the series; color drawing on front depicting Matinicus Rock Light and background scenery; surrounded by thin black frame line and white border; printed on front "MATINICUS ROCK LIGHT"; printed on back "LIGHT HOUSE SERIES 1 TO 50/ MARTINICUS (sic) ROCK LIGHT./ On the southerly end of Martinicus (sic)/ Rock, off the seacoast of Maine and/ southerly entrance to Penobscot Bay./ Has a fixed white oil light. Height/ above mean high water 85 feet and is/ visible 17-1/4 miles. Discontinued in 1883,/ relighted in 1888. Established 1827. The backs contain information abou the lighthouse, the sound of its signal and the year it was established.
