Tobacco card, Lighthouse series by American Tobacco Co. for Hassan Cigarettes (T77); Point Loma Light, number 40 in the series; color drawing on front depicting Point Loma Light and background scenery; surrounded by thin black frame line and white border; printed on front "POINT LOMA LIGHT"; printed on back "LIGHT HOUSE SERIES 1 TO 50/ POINT LOMA LIGHT./ On the southerly end of Point/ Loma, seacoast of California, on the/ westerly side of the entrance to San/ Diego Bay. Has flashing alternately/ red and white oil light; intervals be-/ tween flashes 20 seconds. It is 88 feet/ above mean high water and is visible/ 17-1/4 miles. "This series contains attractive drawings of 48 lighthouses in coastal locations around the country, plus the Statue of Liberty and a card depicting early coastal signaling methods. The lighthouses are mostly in the East, but there are a few (such as Tillamook Light) from the West Coast. The backs contain information abou the lighthouse, the sound of its signal and the year it was established.
