Equipped with highly sensitive listening and/ tracking gear, the killer lurks in the ocean depths, alert for enemy craft. Once/ the prey is spotted, the submarine launches its attack or flashes word of the/ enemy contact to air and surface anti-submarine teams. Killer submarines/ will play a major role in any future war. Even without the benefit of special/ equipment, United States submarines in World War II destroyed 22 Jpapanese/ underseas craft. The K-1 displaces 765 tons and is 196 feet in length. The/ K-1 was launched March 2, 1951." Enclosed in portfolio 2003.92.22.
