Photograph; black-and-white photograph of Henry Strauss and Captain Frank Osman in living quarters on board a naval vessel, probably SC 668; the two men are shirtless and leaning against a bunk, books can be seen behind the bunk, and a clock above,on the floor behind the men is a box labeled "case type C-3 CAMERA"; from Henry Strauss transcript in Sound Archives: "That's the Captain Frank Osman and me in the living compartment. We did not have a steward on the boat who took care of making our beds and serving our meals. We ate with the crew. The reason why we didn't have a steward is because all the stewards were black and the captain was from Birmingham, Alabama and would not have a black on the ship." Related to 2004.81.187.
