OKLAHOMA (BB-37, built 1914), battleship; front of envelope has no cachet; no stamp; printed on top right "Penalty for private use to avoid/ payment of postage, $300.; postmarked "U.S.S./ SEP/ 6/ P.M./ 1930/ OKLAHOMA" and "SAN PEDRO/ CALIFORNIA"; address printed and typed on front "Bureau of [typed] SUPPLIES AND ACCOUNTS./ Navy Department,/ Washington, D.C."; stamped on back "SUNK". The U.S.S. OKLAHOMA was torpedoed and sunk with a loss of 415 men during the attack on Pearl Harbor (see correspondence file).
