SUMNER (AG-32, built 1915), survey ship; front of envelope has cachet in black and green ink, features unidentified navy ship at anchor, clouds in background bordered with spread-winged eagle, stars and banner, printed on left "UNITED STATES NAVY/ AUXILARIES (sic)"; stamp on right features portrait of Martha Washington in profile, printed on stamp "UNITED/ STATES/ POSTAGE/ MARTHA/ WASHINGTON/ 1-1/2 CENT 1-1/2"; stamp postmarked twice with the same mark "U.S.S. SUMNER/ FEB/ 7/ 1941/ REGISTERED". The U.S.S. SUMNER was undamaged during the attack on Pearl Harbor, assisted with rescue operations (see correspondence file).
