Mears (1829-1899) during his travels as a shipmaster to the South Pacific; full front view of Sinhalese (Sri Lankan) male servant wearing a sarma (traditional sarong), a jacket and shirt; an ornamental headpiece, and is standing next to a side table; handwritten on back "?ppoo", thought to be "Appoo", an Indian name.
