Mears (1829-1899) during his travels as a shipmaster to the South Pacific; two women, bare chested (with traditional scarification visible on torso), wearing skirts and neck ornamentation, hands folded in lap, sitting in straight-backed chairs; handwritten on back "Australian/ Aborigines".
