Mears (1829-1899) during his travels as a shipmaster to the South Pacific; 11 Tahitians (10 female, 1 male) posing in two rows, all dressed in western style clothing, many holding bottles and glasses, the women wearing garlands in their hair; handwriting on back "Tahitians in/ a ??ee"; printed on back "MRS.
