Cabinet photograph, albumen print (of watercolor?); Moorea's Bays, circa 1882 (see Manuscript Coll. 311); collected by Captain Richard C. Mears (1829-1899) during his travels as a shipmaster to the South Pacific; possibly a photograph of an original watercolor print by C.F. Gordon Cumming, shows both Cook's Bay (aka Paopao Bay) and Oponuhu Bay in Moorea, the twin bays which give the island its forked shape; handwritten on front (right side) "Cooks Bay this side"; handwritten on back "Cooks Bay ophu [crossed out]/ opouhu [crossed out]/ Oponuhu/ isld of Moorea"; printed on back "C.B. HOARE,/ Photographer,/ PAPEETE,/ TAHITI."
