7x5 safety negative photographed by Rosenfeld and Sons off Gloucester, Massachusetts in October of 1938 most likely just before the time of the International Fishermen's Races. BLUENOSE was a 143' Lunenberg Canadian built schooner fisherman and is seen in this image in a strong wind, port bow view with mainsail running free on the starboard side. Many people and crew on deck visible. BLUENOSE was built in 1921 by G. A. Rhuland and designed by William J. Roue. Launched March, 1921, she was heavily damaged during the launching, enough so that she never really made a fishing run and had to get special dispensation to participate in the International Fishermen's Race Trials in 1921. She won the International Fishermen's Races of 1931 and 1938. Stamped neg. sleeve info.: "90377F / [Box] 4503." Handwritten info.: "BLUENOSE." CREDIT LINE: Mystic Seaport, Rosenfeld Collection.
