35mm color slide photographed by Rosenfeld and Sons during what is believed to be a shakedown cruise for COLUMBIA, US16, sometime after being launched June 3, 1958 on Long Island Sound. Vessel shows a close up, windward port abeam view, sail close-hauled. Some crew visible on deck and man with his back to the camera is watching the crew on the grinders and more crew to his left is working on the mast. Handwritten; "1985 COLUMBIA". COLUMBIA was a 69'7" 12 Meter sloop, built for the America's Cup defense in 1958 by Henry B. Nevins, Inc. of City Island, New York from designs by Olin Stephens of Sparkman and Stephens and rigged by Rod Stephens. Her first owner was the Henry Francis Sears Syndicate of the New York Yacht Club. Mount info. handwritten in ink: "1958 Columbia".
