Image of RUNNING TIDE, sail #4444, red spinnaker foreground, then SIRONA, sail #21313, yellow and medium blue horizontal striped spinnaker and then SWIFTSURE, sail #57444, with two white and red and blue spinnakers on far right in background. View is starboard bow leeward, port tack, running free. RUNNING TIDE, sail #4444, was an ocean racer that participated in many long distance races in the 1970's. She was a 60'6" auxiliary sloop built in 1969 by Huisman of Vollenhove, Netherlands from designs by Sparkman & Stephens, Inc. and sailed in 1978 by A.G. Van Metre. SIRONA was a 48' auxiliary sloop, sail #21313, believed to be a Swan 48 built by or before 1978 and designed by Sparkman & Stephens and built by Oy Nautor Ab Company of Finland. Her owner in 1978 was James Michael. SWIFTSURE, auxiliary sloop, sail #57444 was sailed by Nicholas Frazee during the SORC of 1978. Mount info. stamped: "(black) 32 / FEB 78N7".
