35mm color slide photographed by Rosenfeld and Sons in February of 1980 of the start of Class B of the S.O.R.C. (Southern Ocean Racing Conference). Image of four sloops undersail in a strong wind, bow on on a starboard tack. From right to left: SCARAMOUCHE, MERRYTHOUGHT, BLA CAROT and INSANITY. SCARAMOUCHE was a 48'6" auxiliary sloop, sail #6070, built in 1977 by Palmer Johnson Boat Works of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin from designs by German Frers, Jr. and owned in 1980 by Charles Kirsch. MERRYTHOUGHT was a 46'9" 1976 design by German Frers, Jr. built in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin by Palmer-Johnson, Incorporated and was owned in 1980 by Jack King. BLA CAROT was a 51' auxiliary sloop, sail #A-21479, designed by German Frers, Jr. by or before 1980 and owned in 1980 by Wictur Forss. INSANITY was a 50' auxiliary sloop, sail #11133, designed by C&C Yachts of Oakville, Ontario, Canada by or before 1980. Her builder probably was also C&C Yachts and she was owned in 1980 was John Schneider. Mount info. stamped: "(black) 6 / FEB 80N6". Stamped on verso: "Kodachrome SLIDE / PROCESSED BY KODAK".
