4x5 safety negative photographed by Rosenfeld and Sons during the time of the start of the Newport to Bermuda Race in June of 1960. Partial image of FLYING TARTAN undersail, starboard view aft showing the deck with crew posed. Behind FLYING TARTAN, is a partial view, starboard side aft, of the 58' auxiliary yawl CARIBBEE. FLYING TARTAN was a NY32' class sloop, sail #NY10, previously called HELEN, LARIKIN, WHISPER II, SOUBRETTE, BETISE, BARUNITA, and later as TENDERLY. She was a 45'4" Sparkman & Stephens, Inc. sloop later converted to a yawl in 1953. FLYING TARTAN was owned by James F. Murray, Jr. of Cold Spring Harbor, New York from 1960 to 1971.
