Painting; Miniature painting of George E. Elliott, Sr., before 1817; from the collection of George Elliott (1810-1862); miniature portrait painting of George E. Elliott, Sr.; painting uncovered, but placed in a metal frame; on other side of frame is a piece of glass, with the hair of George E. Elliott, Sr. and his wife, woven in a pattern behind it; entire piece is housed in a small case covered in red leather; case is oval in shape, hinged on one side, and has a small hook clasp to keep shut (looks as though there used to be a second one, but it has since broken off); interior of case is lined in silk and padded to protect the painting and hair art; under silk lining is a paper lining most likely made from previously used sheets of paper (writing is seen on them; also in case was a small sheet of paper on which was written information about the painting and George E. Elliott, Sr.; handwritten on front and back of paper "Miniature of George E./ Elliott Sr. (supposedly/ full blooded English)/ Great great Grandfather of/ Wesley Elliott Porter/ and Viola Elizabeth Porter/ Great Grandfather of Emma E./ Porter + Effie M.
