Original image was photographed off Newport in either 1977 or 1980 probably during preliminary trials between the different countries. Aerial view image of AUSTRALIA, #KA5, starboard beam view showing deck, crew working, and spinnaker with mainsail on a reach. To the upper right corner of the image is a partial view of SVERIGE, #S3, port quarter view with deck visible. AUSTRALIA, sail #KA5, a 65' 12 Meter Class sloop, was built for the Australian America's Cup challenge in 1977 by Steven Ward of Australia from co-designers Johan Valentijn and Ben Lexcen in 1977.
