Closeup side view of RANGER, starboard side of the mast looking aft of the crew hoisting the mainsail with Harold Vanderbilt looking on on the left side. Crewman in boson's chair on mast checking on the sail as its being lifted. RANGER was a 135'2" sloop, built as a US America's Cup defender in 1937 by the Bath Iron Works of Bath, Maine and designed by Starling Burgess with Olin Stephens and sponsored by the Vanderbilt syndicate for the 1937 defense.
