5x7 safety negative photographed by Rosenfeld and Sons May 20, 1939 on trial runs after her launching. Image of VIM undersail, showing a port beam view with mainsail running free and spinnaker set. VIM, #US15, was a 70' 12 meter class sloop, designed by Sparkman & Stephens and built by Henry B. Nevins, Inc. of City Island, New York in 1939. She was commissioned by Harold Vanderbilt and launched in May of 1939. She was bought by Rod Stephens and Briggs Cunningham who won 19 of 27 races during the 1939 season.
