Image of COURAGEOUS, in the lead, racing against SOUTHERN CROSS with the Coast Guard cutter EAGLE to the right in the background. COURAGEOUS, #US26, was the America's Cup defender built in 1974 by Minneford Yacht Yard of City Island, New York and designed by Sparkman & Stephens. SOUTHERN CROSS, #KA4, was the Australian America's Cup 1974 challenger and she was a 67' 12 Meter Class sloop designed by Bob Miller, the lead designer, and John E. Bertrand, the assistant designer, both of Australia. Handwritten mount info.: "Start Americas' Cup - Eagle". Hand stamped: "[PHOTOGR]APH BY STANLEY ROSENFELD" and also stamped: "+2 / SEP 74N14 / MADE IN U.S.A.". Manufacturer's stamp on verso: ""Kodachrome TRANSPARENCY + / PROCESSED BY KODAK".
