Colored Postcard. From the collection of S. Clyde King. Image on front is a colored image of a photograph taken in 1903 by H.S. Hutchinson & Co. (see 1947.1596.24). Image shows men cutting into a right whale on the whaling bark CALIFORNIA. Red text at top on front “RIGHT WHALING. HEAD ALL CLEAR AND HOISTING ABOARD,/ NEW BEDFORD, MASS.” and the number "17601" just below. Back of card is unused with a divided back.
