Pair of Civil War gauntlets (A and B), or gloves. Made of light tan leather. Very sturdy, reinforced wrist, with thinner material covering the hand. Three seams at the center of the top of the hand. Inside the cuff of each gauntlet is inscribed in black and red ink: "R.H. Clift / Adjutant / 22 Regt / Ill's Inf.(?)." From a collection of Civil War uniform accoutrements belonging to Lieutenant Robert H. Clift of Mystic, Conn.
