Image of the 4-masted bark FREDERICK BILLINGS being launched, sliding down the ways, port quarter view, into the water. Part of the town of Rockport, Maine can be seen in the background. FREDERICK BILLIINGS, a 291' 4-masted bark, was built in 1885 by Carleton, Norwood & Company of Rockport, Maine. She was lost by fire in 1893 at Pisagna, Chile while loading nitrate. Print is part of the John F. Leavitt album #4, wooden ships (1976.1.181). Album page is hand captioned in black ink at the bottom: "4m. bark "FREDERICK BILLINGS" 2497 net tons, built 1885 at Rockport, Me. by Carleton, Norwood & Co. for their own account".
