LCSH: Fort Wadsworth (N.Y.); "Fort Wadsworth; area on Staten Island occupied by British until end of Revol.; after the war in 1783 area became known as Fort Richmond (at the edge of the narrows); by 1808 this was one garrison of four protecting the Signal Hill area; conditions deteriorated after the war but site later reconstructed under name Battery Weed; in 1902 name designated as Fort Wadsworth"
