A photograph of the MORRO CASTLE wreck where it came to rest off the beach at Asbury Park, NJ, with a crowd of onlookers in front of it. This is a commercial phtoograph taken by Coler Co. of Asbury Park, and probably taken on September 8, 1934 given that the ship is still smoking. Someone has written a message on the back: "Dear father/ Come down and see the ship you see the picture of here on the postal card. It happened last Saturday in the storm. Best regards to all from we all/ Ana." The wreck became a significant tourist attraction after the September 8, 1934 wreck, with hundreds of thousands of people coming to see it.
