A nighttime view of the MORRO CASTLE, grounded off the beach at Asbury Park. It was taken with a long exposure to capture the glow and smoke of the still-burning wreck, and it has captured someone walking with a torch or light on the beach as well. There is a copyright notice for ColerCo, Asbury Park, NJ. and the photo is labelled "S.S. MORRO CASTLE ashore at Asbury Park, NJ." It is undated, but this is almost certainly the night of September 8, 1934, late in the day of the fire, when the ship was still burning. This is a print on cardstock, but the original news photograph is included in this collection as well.
