KIALOA II; Part of the Kilroy-Kialoa Collection; black and white image of the KIALOA II under sail, written on the back it reads "Hard on wind 2/1/72 NHYC / by Neal Beckner / Member Jim Kilroy and his famous 73-foot aluminum yawl KIALOA II have been adding to their laurels in far away places recently. Late in December they led a fleet of more than 60 yachts in the 650- mile race from Syndey, Australia to Hobart, Tasmania to collect line honors. Follwing that event, KIALOA II scored a clean sweep in the 1570-mile Tasman Sea race from Hobart to Auckland, New Zealand and, in addition, set a new elapsed time record for that race. KIALOA II is now en route to Panam and the Atlantic Coast where she will compete in the 1972 Bermuda Race and than the Trans-Atlantic race in which she was the handicap winner in 1970. After a bit of cruising in the mediteranean, Jim plans to enter the Buenos Aires to Rio de Janiero race early in 1973, thence to Floridan for the S.O.R.C. circuit and finally back 'homeside' in time for the 1973 Trans- Pacific race to Honolulu. It may remembered that KIALOA II has previously collected overall honors in both the Acapulco and Ensendada races and only last year set new elapsed time records in three of the siz Whitney Series races. A good boat well sailed is KIALOA II's history."
