A 1904 Cunard Line pamphlet with the sailing schedule for April-November between New York and Liverpool as well as Boston to Liverpool. It also includes a fare schedule for stateroom, second class and third class on various ships, and there is a detailed description of accommodations in both second and third class. For stateroom and second class, the emphasis is on luxurious spaces, with "complete and perfect" staterooms, food that is "varied and choice," and public rooms "as comfortable as one could wish." "Stewards are attentive," and for ladies, "a stewardess is always within call." The third class description addresses more basic needs-- fresh water is available, meals are "on a very liberal scale and well prepared, wholesome food is served 3 times a day," food is served at tables by stewards, and "special attention is paid to the extra comforts of women and children, and those who are sick." These description give a good sense of the evolving understandings of a ship's obligations to its less wealthy passengers in this time period.
