A menu from the CARPATHIA dated April 28, 1912, two weeks after its involvement in the TITANIC disaster. After the CARPATHIA rescued the TITANIC survivors in lifeboats on Monday, April 15, it turned back towards New York, interrupting its voyage to the Mediterranean, and delivered the traumatized survivors to the dock on Thursday, April 18. On Friday April 19, the ship's captain Arthur Rostron testified before the U.S. Senate hearings that had been hastily convened, and he submtited to Cunard a written report about the events of the previous week. On Sunday April 21, the ship again left New York again to resume its interrupted Mediterranean voyage, with many of the same passengers aboard, although Captain Rostron and his crew had had little rest since their night run toward the TITANIC. This menu dates from a week later, on the same trip, and it is clear that at least in terms of dining options, all was operating to the usual high standards. The menu opens at the bottom so that it stands up on its own, and the deocrative border is embossed.
