A postcard of the Seamen's Church Institute of New York, postmarked July 2, 1914 and addressed to Mrs. Alex Bedrosian, 930 E. 4th St., So Boston, Mass. The postcard shows the lobby of the hotel there, and there is an X penned at a counter on the left. The message says "Where I put the cross there is now a soda and ice cream counter where everything costs but half of what it would in [any] other store. J." The Seamen's Church Institute at 25 South Street was a new building at this time, built in 1913, and it provided dormitory style lodging for seamen as well as religious, educational and social services. This is one of a group of postcards that seaman Joseph Miller sent to Mrs. Bedrosian over several years and one of several that he sent from the Seamen's Institute on July 2, 1914.
