A trade card from the set "Wonders of the QUEEN MARY" produced by Mars Confections Ltd. in Slough, England in 1936 and distributed with Mars Bars chocolates. Illustration of its captain Sir Edgar Britten with a description on the back. Britten, Commodore of the Cunard Line, was the QUEEN MARY's first captain, taking it on its maiden voyage in May 1936 and its voyage of August 20, 1936 which broke the speed records for transatlantic crossings. On October 29, 1936, Britten was found unconscious in his cabin and later died in a hospital. This card therefore clearly dates the set to 1936, and it was probably issued in relation to the maiden voyage. Card #2 from a series of 25.
