Wooden frame for 2012.44.1 print of etching "Rousseau and Desdemona, The Last Port" by Lemuel D. Eldred, frame made from wood from the whaler ROUSSEAU per donor. Frame crafted together from four rectangular sections of wood, evidence of wooden pegs on top, bottom, and left pieces; right piece includes larger rectangular peg or evidence of mending. Carved into the lower right corner of the frame 'ROUSSEAU / 1801 1893' signifying the length of time the ROUSSEAU was an active whaling vessel. Overall fair to poor condition; wood is very soft in places, cracks across the whole surface, upper right edge secured in place by fabric tie, paper adhered in places on the reverese from original framing. Overall: 21 x 30 x 1 in.
