Walrus tusk with colored engraved artwork made by Chukchi artist of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug region of Russia; circa 1975, work is not signed by resemebles the work of L. Teyuntina (1945) featured in booklet "The Art of Ivory Carvers from Chukotka." Tusk decorated on both sides; front side decorated with Arctic animals such as polar bears, walruses, seals, and arctic birds, laying on ice caps and swimming in the ocean; back side decorated with Chukchi men in parkas herding caribou on land surrounded by water. Overall: 3 1/4 x 23 x 1 1/2 in.
