Rectangular lustreware teapot with lid and transferware imagery on either side of an unnamed American Brig and a sail-to-steam vessel carrying passengers; no date, likely early to mid 19th century. Ceramic is white with metallic pink luster decorations around the edges of the teapot, pour spout, and handle. Transferware designs done in red on either side of the teapot and teapot lid; side A depicts an American Brig under full sail with additional motifs of an olive branch, an anchor, and an eagle; side B depicts a smaller sail-to-steam vessel carrying passengers and trawling a recreational boat; teapot lid decorated on either side with images of large mansion estates. No decorations on the interior; no inscription on bottom. Overall fair to good condition; crackle present in the glaze with some dark staining, lid reglazed with ivory glaze/paint with visible difference. Overall: 6 3/4 x 5 x 11 in.
