Model of Mediterranean sailing ship called a xebec (alternatively spelled zebec); made by donor's father Albert W. Lawrence, no date. Model includes three lateen sails and long bowsprit; rigging made from cotton thread and thin cordage. Model painted red, gold, and black with a blue accent on the transom. Stern decorated with gold appliqués in the shape of cherubs, mermaids, dolphins, and a seated woman. Model depicted with 24 open gun ports and 24 cannons (12 on each side). Lifeboat with oars tied down on the foredeck. Model secured to wooden display mount. Overall: 31 1/2 x 39 x 9 1/2 in.
