White-capped Albatross Egg (Thalassarche cauta); native to the Southern Hemisphere, possibly collected on Tristan da Cunha or collected elsewhere and brought to Tristan da Cunha before 1885. One of two white-capped albatross egg shells. Large, grey-white egg with faint grey-brown spotting, numerous taped cracks and breaks, round hole where the egg was drained, and the number 15 written in pencil. Handwritten label affixed to shell reads 'Molmoke Egg From Tristen da Cunha'; 'Molmoke' probably refers to mollymawk, an alternate name for several albatross species. Overall: 4 1/8 x 2 7/8 x 2 7/8 in.
