White-capped Albatross Egg (Thalassarche cauta); native to the Southern Hemisphere, possibly collected on Tristan da Cunha or collected elsewhere and brought to Tristan da Cunha before 1885. One of two white-capped albatross egg shells. Large, grey-white egg with faint gray-brown spotting, two small breaks connected by a hairline crack, a small hole where the egg was drained, and the number 15 and the word 'Molmoke' written in pencil; 'Molmoke' probably refers to mollymawk, an alternate name for several albatross species. Overall: 4 1/8 x 3 x 3 in.
