Great Black-Backed Gull Egg (Larus marinus); native to Northern Hemisphere but incidentally known to be found in the Southern Hemisphere, likely collected elsewhere and brought to Tristan da Cunha before 1885. Medium, olive-tan egg shell covered with brown and grey spots; slightly tapered at pointed end, with a small hole where the egg was drained and '13 Sadle Back gull' written in pencil. Overall: 3 x 2 3/8 x 2 3/8 in.
