Kelp Gull Egg (Larus dominicanus) (tentative ID); native to Southern Hemisphere coastlines, likely collected on nearby breeding grounds and brought to Tristan da Cunha before 1885. One of three egg shells possibly belonging to the kelp gull; all three may have been collected from the same nest. Medium sized, pointed at one end, and covered with uneven spots in shades of brown with a small hole where the egg was drained and the number 14 written in pencil. Overall: 2 1/2 x 1 7/8 x 1 7/8 in.
