A letter welcoming passengers aboard for the QUEEN ELIZABETH's maiden voyage of October 16, 1946. It includes a colorful image of a herald with a trumpet and describes QUEEN ELIZABETH's military service and her future "contribution to the arts of peace." There is also a quotation from QUEEN ELIZABETH at the ship's launch. The letter is signed by James Bisset, Commodore of the Cunard Line, who had captained both the QUEEN ELIZABETH and QUEEN MARY during their wartime service and was now captaining the QUEEN ELIZABETH for her maiden voyage.
