A black and white aerial view of a twin-engine Aero Commander 520 in flight over unidentified land, a coastline and water below, with distant land and buildings visible through clouds; tail number N4136B legible. Stamp on reverse reads "Duplicates of this photograph are available at / PHOTOGRAPHY / BY / BILL GLEI / Brown Studio TE2-0131 / 717 SOUTH PAIFIC AVENUE SAN PEDRO, CALIFORNIA / File Number 765-1." (Possibly the Aero Commander 520 used to transport KIALOA I crew to the 1962 San Diego - Acapulco race, based on a notation made on reverse of nearly identical photograph.). Image slightly out of focus but in overall excellent condition with minor creasing in upper left corner border. Overall: 8 x 10 in.
See Manuscripts Collection 382 for material documenting 20th-century yachting, the sailing career of John B. “Jim” Kilroy Sr. and yachts named KIALOA held in the G.W. Blunt White Library of the American Institute of Maritime Studies at Mystic Seaport Museum.
