Glass negative; view taken from wharf possibly New Bedford MA; starboard view of hermaphrodite brig, identified on original envelope as FRANCES A. BARSTOW [built 1877, sold foreign 1901], drying her sails, whale oil barrels at foreground; image is slightly blurred, sidewheel steamer at right, name on paddlebox is illegible; negative damaged due to flaking emulsion, "131" scratched into lower right corner; from the collection of Charles F. Sayle, Sr.
