Photo album once owned by Capt. Thomas O. Selfridge, U.S. Navy, captain of sloop of war OMAHA; albumen prints (1984.132.1-96) taken between 1885-1888, while OMAHA was on Asiatic station; album covers are black lacquered wood, with gold paint and ivory and mother-of-pearl inlay, front cover shows tree, 2 figures and dancing fish (ivory faces and hands, mother-of-pearl hat (missing on left figure), feet on right figure missing); back cover, flowers, leaves and bee; handwritten on 1st page "Thos. O. Selfridge/ Captain/ U.S. Navy".; from 1885-1891 OMAHA'S assignment was duty on the Asiatic Station; Selfridge maintained an album of places visited.
