Oil painting on canvas, by Ernest F. Beckett. At the left is a stern view of an unidentified steamship leaving a dock in Liverpool, England. A crowd of people are seen in the right foreground, and an unidentified pilot boat is seen in the right background. The painting is signed in the lower right with intertwined initials "EFB" and "1891". The reverse has a typewritten label taped to wood stretcher, which reads "EMIGRANT SHIP LEAVING LIVERPOOL DOCKS,/ oil on canvas, signed with monogram/ "EFB" (Ernest F. Beckett) and dated / 1891. Beckett was a Liverpool artist/ who exhibited at the Walker Art Gallery/ in 1905".
