Vase; Japanese Kutani, probably from Kutanihon kiln, post-1870; probably acquired by Captain Timothy M. Benson during voyages of the bark MARTHA DAVIS 1878-1889; white ceramic with gold floral patterns on red background; characters at center of vase climbing trees, carrying baskets; gold concentric circles on red background painted on inside lip; black and gold handles resemble fish tails; vase has been cracked and repaired; paper label on underside with hand-applied Japanese characters in ink; mate to 95.117.34
