Frederic Schiller Cozzens, watercolor on paper mounted on card; "BARQUE WITH 2 RED CROSSES 3 MASTS/ CLIPPERSHIP 'DREADNOUGHT'"; written on mat in pencil; port view of barque in center with a red cross on front and center masts; vessel DREADNOUGHT of the Red Cross Line of New York; on clam seas; starboard view of similar vessel in background on left; another vessel in far distance on right; horizon line at 1/3 mark; fair sky above; graphite underdrawing smudged a bit; signed in red in lower left corner "Fred. S. Cozzens/ 23."; paper turning yellow; otherwise in very good condition. DREADNOUGHT was a Red Cross Line clipper ship that sailed from New York to Liverpool; she went from Sandy Hook to Cape Clear in 9 days 17 hours; she was well known and respected.
