Bronze medal mounted on wood; medal is circular with map of Atlantic Ocean; engraved around edge "THE BLUE WATER MEDAL OF THE CRUISING CLUB OF AMERICA"; on bottom of globe is rectangle engraved "1933/ AWARDED TO RODERICK STEPHENS, JR./ FOR THE VOYAGE OF YAWL "DORADE"/ FROM NEW YORK TO NORWAY, ENGLAND AND AND [sic]/ BACK DURING WHICH SHE SAILED OVER/ 8000 MILES IN 3 MONTHS AND 10 DAYS."; on reverse of wood backing is hinged wooden support piece; 2 eye screws on upper corners for hanging; 2 screw holes in center for mounting brass medal, with one screw and washer missing; from Roderick Stephens collection.
